Penn State Lehigh Valley Student Affairs hosts events to ease stress

During the day on Dec. 6 students could create their own emoji mug. Each mug featured a Penn State Lehigh Valley saying on one side and an emoji of their choice on the opposite.  Students were able to choose from one of nineteen different icons.

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Penn State Lehigh Valley Office of Student Affairs planned a week for the campus community to keep calm and relax. 

Each day during “Keep Calm and Carry On” week, different activities took place for students to participate in. On Dec. 5, students were invited to “Lego their stress” at the campus bookstore with coloring, Legos and snacks.  During the day on Dec. 6 students could create their own emoji mug, as well as enjoy a movie night co-hosted by Blue and White Society.  

Students had free range on creativity and design standards using the famous text icons. Each mug featured a Penn State Lehigh Valley saying on one side and an emoji of their choice on the opposite.  Students were able to choose from one of nineteen different icons.

Christmas sweater contest

Students, faculty and staff participated in a holiday ugly sweater contest on Dec. 7. The winners were awarded gift cards and Penn State Lehigh Valley swag.

Activities on Dec. 7 offered the Merry Math Club’s garage sale, the Billy Bauer Acoustic Guitar Duo, and a holiday ugly sweater contest with gift cards and Penn State Lehigh Valley swag items as the prizes. The guitar duo played songs ranging from pop, 80’s, rock and country music. Students could submit song requests.

The garage sale continued on Dec. 8 along with an opportunity to de-stress by sitting in one of the massage chairs. Dec. 9 students were invited to participate in the Car Club’s go-kart racing night at Lehigh Valley Grand Prix in Allentown.

All of these events offered students a chance to unwind and have fun before finals week.
