Penn State Lehigh Valley student athletes gathered near the Lion Shrine after the 2017 Athletics Awards Luncheon held on Apr. 10 at the Lehigh Valley campus.

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — The Penn State Lehigh Valley Athletics Department recognized the accomplishments and achievements of its intercollegiate teams on April 10 during an awards luncheon held at the Lehigh Valley campus. Men’s basketball player Jordan Young and women's basketball player Ashley Gordon were named Penn State Lehigh Valley Male and Female Athletes of the Year. Below are the achievements of each program from the 2016-2017 season.

Men's Golf
Head Coach: Brian Exton  
Individual Accomplishments

  • Nick Engelman: USCAA 1st Team All-American, USCAA Runner Up, USCAA National All-Academic (students with 3.5 GPA or higher), PSUAC League Medalist, PSUAC Championship Medalist, PSU-LV Golfer of the year.
  • Brian Zinman: PSUAC 1st Team All-Conference.
  • Dan Reigh: USCAA National All-Academic (students with 3.5 GPA or higher).

Men's & Women's Cross Country
Head Coach: Jeff Breidinger
Individual Accomplishments

  • Jonathan Meyer: PSUAC 2nd Team All-Conference, PSU-LV Runner of the year.

Academic All-Conference (students must achieve a GPA of 3.0 or higher)

  • Jarrett Tranauskas, Joseph Johnson, Jonathan Meyer

Women's Volleyball 
Head Coach: Chynna Gehman
Individual Accomplishments

  • Ebony Sanders: PSUAC Newcomer of the Year, PSUAC 1st Team All-Conference, PSU-LV Volleyball player of the year.

Men's Basketball  
Head Coach: Mike DeCarolis
Individual Accomplishments

  • Jordan Young: USCAA Division 2 Male Student-Athlete of the Year (Young is the first player ever in PSU-LV history to be awarded this honor), PSUAC Honorable Mention All-Conference, Third player overall and 1st male player to reach 1,000 career points, PSU-LV Men’s basketball player of the year.
  • Jonathan Buie: PSUAC Honorable Mention All-Conference.
  • Tarvis Gilbert: PSUAC Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Academic All-Conference (students must achieve a GPA of 3.0 or higher - Based on Spring 2016 GPA)

  • Bejan Ramin, Jordan Young, Edward Hudak, Tyler Krchnavi, Brandon Holland

Women's Basketball
Head Coach: Lorie Khalil

Individual Accomplishments

  • Lorie Khalil: PSUAC Coach of the Year.
  • Andrea Watkins: USCAA Division 2 National Player of the Year (Watkins is the first player ever in PSUAC history and PSU-LV history to be named National Player of the Year), USCAA 1st Team All-American, PSUAC Player of the Year, PSUAC 1st Team All-Conference, Second player in PSU-LV history to score 1,000 career points.
  • Ashley Gordon: USCAA 2nd Team All-American, PSUAC 1st Team All-Conference, First player in PSU-LV history to score 1,000 career points, PSU-LV Women’s basketball player of the year.
  • Hannah Bankes: PSUAC 2nd Team All-Conference, USCAA National All-Academic Team (students with 3.5 GPA or higher).
  • Ebony Sanders: USCAA 2nd Team All-American, PSUAC 2nd Team All-Conference.

Academic All-Conference (students must achieve a GPA of 3.0 or higher - Based on Spring 2016 GPA)

  • Ashley Gordon, Kereece Seuren, Gia Erie, Nikita Brady, Elizabeth Leiby, Hannah Bankes.

Cycling

Individual Accomplishments

  • Katie Fogel: Top 10 at the ECCC Nittany Classic Women's C Road Race and Criterium, PSU-LV Cyclist of the year.
