Athletics week in review at Penn State Lehigh Valley

Women’s basketball falls at Kutztown University, 90-55

The Penn State Lehigh Valley Women's Basketball team fell to NCAA Division II power Kutztown University, 90-55, Saturday, Nov. 25, in Kutztown. With the loss, Lehigh Valley drops to 3-2 on the season. 

Lehigh Valley held the game close up until two minutes left in the first quarter when Lehigh Valley committed three quick turnovers and Kutztown made back to back three point shots to go on a 12-0 run and never look back from that point. Lehigh Valley had a better second half winning the fourth quarter 23-22. 

Senior Andrea Watkins led the Lions with 15 points. Sophomore Ebony Sanders and senior Nikita Brady chipped in with 12 points apiece. 

Women’s Basketball runs past Penn State York, 75-38

The Penn State Lehigh Valley Women's Basketball team opened up PSUAC play with a convincing 75-38 win over visiting Penn State York Friday, Dec. 1 at Cedar Crest College. With the win, Lehigh Valley improves to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in PSUAC play.

Two players were in double figures for Lehigh Valley lead by senior Andrea Watkins who had a game high 21 points. Senior Nikita Brady contributed 14 points. Senior Kereece Seuren chipped in with 8 points and 11 rebounds and sophomore Ebony Sanders had 8 points and 10 rebounds.

Women's Basketball Falls to Penn State Brandywine, 68-53

The Penn State Lehigh Valley Women's Basketball team trailed by 2 points at halftime, but could not capitalize on the offensive end in the second half to beat the defending PSUAC champions, Penn State Brandywine, at Lehigh Carbon Community College on Dec. 2.

Lehigh Valley struggled offensively with a season-low 26 percent shooting from the floor. Three players were in double figures for the Lions led by Andrea Watkins with 16 points, Ebony Sanders with 15 points and Kereece Seuren adding 12 points in the loss. Lehigh Valley dropped to 1-1 in PSUAC play and 4-3 overall.

Men’s Basketball drops PSUAC opener at Penn State Hazleton, 70-67

The Penn State Lehigh Valley Men's Basketball team’s second-half comeback was not enough to overcome Penn State Hazleton's lead in the PSUAC opener Tuesday, Nov. 28, in Hazleton.

Lehigh Valley trailed 47-36 at halftime, but made a resilient comeback to cut the deficit to 3 points in the second half, but time ran out. Lehigh Valley drops to 1-4 on the season and 0-1 in PSUAC play. Junior Jeremiah Jenkins and senior Jonathan Buie led Lehigh Valley with 13 points apiece. Junior James Middleton chipped in with 11 points.

Men’s Basketball downed by Penn State York, 91-85

The Penn State Lehigh Valley Men's Basketball team held a 14 point lead, but could not hold on as visiting PSUAC opponent Penn State York stormed back to win 91-85 Friday, Dec. 1, at Cedar Crest College. 

Four players were in double figure scoring for Lehigh Valley lead by junior Zach Thomas with 18 points. AJ Molettiere added 14 points, Jonathan Buie with 12 points, Tarvis Gilbert and James Middleton with 10 apiece. 

Men's Basketball stopped by Penn State Brandywine, 91-82

The Penn State Lehigh Valley Men's Basketball team fell to visiting PSUAC opponent, Penn State Brandywine, 91-82 at Lehigh Carbon Community College on Dec. 2. The men's basketball team lost to Brandywine despite a tremendous scoring output by junior Jeremiah Jenkins who led the team with 24 points. First-year student KJ Simmons added 17 points and senior Jonathan Buie chipped in with 11 points.
