Annual Food Drive to Benefit Sixth Street Shelter

Every November for the past several years, the Office of Student Affairs spearheads the Annual Penn State Lehigh Valley Thanksgiving Food Drive to benefit the Sixth Street Shelter in Allentown. This year our efforts will help feed 47 families residing at the shelter. This community service project is a true collaborative effort between our students, faculty and staff. Each of our clubs and organizations donates a specific type and amount of canned or boxed goods. One of our student groups, the LAN club, goes above and beyond each year, donating over 100 canned items. Our total exceeded 1000 donations from our students this year!Faculty and staff contribute monetary donations, as well as The Penn State Lehigh Valley Women's Commission. In addition, our local community stores, Giant Food in Coopersburg and Entenmann's Bakery Outlet in Allentown, assist by offering a significant discounts and gifts cards towards purchases of supplies.
