Margaret Christian: Outstanding Faculty Award in Research

Undergraduate research successes

Penn State Lehigh Valley students Zoha Babar, Sheherbano Hussain and Jimmy Hadid, and Associate Professor of Biology Jacqueline S. McLaughlin, gathered in front of their poster titled, "The Potential of Coating Polyurethane with ‘Self-like’ Molecules to Reduce the Host Response to Implanted Medical Devices."  They took second place in the Biological Sciences and Health category at the Penn State Eastern Regional Undergraduate Research Symposium at Penn State Abington on April 21. Their poster was also presented at the 2018 Undergraduate Research Exhibition in University Park.

Penn State Lehigh Valley Chancellor Tina Q. Richardson, Penn State University President Eric J. Barron and Vice President of Commonwealth Campuses Madlyn L. Hanes visited with nine-year-old Kedar Narayann, who is one of the Lehigh Valley LaunchBox grant recipients, at the Invent Penn State in the Capitol Day on Feb. 5 in Harrisburg. Narayann was displaying his game Codeylocks, which helps kids learn algorithms and how to code.

Penn State’s NSF I-Corps program seeks applications by Sept. 15 and Oct. 15

The National Science Foundation has joined in supporting Penn State’s goal of taking more of its discoveries to market by awarding Penn State a five-year, $500,000 Innovation Corps (I-Corps) grant to establish the Invent Penn State I-Corps Site in collaboration with Ben Franklin Technology Partner’s TechCelerator, Happy Valley LaunchBox, and Invent Penn State’s Innovation Hubs.

Distinguished Professor of Atmospheric Science Michael Mann will speak on Sept. 8 at Penn State Lehigh Valley about climate change, as part of the campus' annual Faculty Invitational Lecture Series.
