Course Description

This three-credit course is designed to help you develop skills and perspectives from an international experience in Denmark. The course offers an opportunity to study and experience the culture of another country with a primary emphasis on the healthcare system, and the history, architecture, art, literature, geography and political system. We will engage in pre-trip planning and lectures, study and research during the trip, and post-trip reflections.

We will explore healthcare in a social welfare context through trip preparation and intensive field experience in Denmark. Topics covered during the course will provide a cultural and historical perspective of Denmark, the healthcare system in Denmark, and policies related to public health and healthcare. Pre-trip learnings will provide background to help you understand the challenges, opportunities and comparisons of the Denmark healthcare and business systems.

Students will travel to Denmark over Spring Break, 2020. You will have an opportunity to link pre-trip learning to experiential learning while in-country. Upon return to the USA, you will reflect on what you’ve learned and how it affected your perspectives on a social welfare country in relation to your own cultural identity, and career goals.

Included: All transportation within country, round-trip airfare, accommodations, all tours and entrance fees, and breakfast daily.

Not Included: Dinners, lunches, and souvenirs.
