A message to our students

A message to our students from Chancellor Richardson (6/15/2020):

Dear Students,

As you may have seen, President Barron announced the University’s Back to State plans last night (6/14/20). We will be starting the semester at the normal time (8/24/20), going all the way to Thanksgiving break, and then we will move to remote delivery for the balance of the semester and finals. We encourage you to review his email message as well as the full announcement.

The updates specific to our campus are the following:

  • We recently formed a campus work group called Return to Campus. This group will be focused on students and other community members returning to campus. This committee will address measures taken in the classroom, student life concerns, and events/involvement from our community stakeholders.
  • I want to reiterate that the safety of our students, faculty and staff is most important. We are going to follow the University’s safety protocols based on the Governor’s requirements. The University will provide oversight to every college and campus to ensure compliance.

I know this is a great deal of information to take in. We will navigate it together. I encourage you to join the Penn State Town Hall for students and your families. This will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, June 22. The event can be viewed online at the PSU Live Events website. Questions can be submitted anonymously via separate online Google forms for students and families.

Please continue visiting our COVID-19 page on our website for up-to-date information. If you have pressing questions, please direct them to [email protected].

We remain committed to assist you through this process. We will continue to provide you with as much information as we can as we receive updates from the University leadership.

 Sincerely,

Dr. Tina Q. Richardson
