Ways to Give

Endowment Funds

  • By creating an endowment, you are creating an investment in the future of Penn State Lehigh Valley by guaranteeing income to support quality students, faculty, enrichment programs, and research. These funds are designated by the donor for a specific purpose, and are held in perpetuity.
  • Increasing our endowment so that it provides a steady and predictable flow of income is a primary objective of the campus. With the changing economic environment, endowment funds ensure the continuity of our programs and our ability to maintain leadership in education, service and research. In this environment, a healthy endowment is even more important, providing a vital advantage in a competitive world.
  • Penn State's benefactors are as diverse as their endowments. While donors may establish these funds to perpetuate a special "cause" or interest close to their hearts, one common thread unites these special alumni and friends. In every case, this common thread is a profound and abiding commitment to the protection and endowment of Penn State's future.

Named Endowments

  • Named endowments require a minimum gift level; however, this minimum level of funding may be pledged over several years. Minimum gift levels vary by the designated use of the endowment. Named endowments may also be increased to a larger level at any time--such as increasing a gift from a professorship to a faculty chair.

Non-Endowed Funds

  • A non-endowed fund uses the donor’s gift in its entirety each year and does not generate interest over time. When all of the money has been administered according to the donor’s wishes, the fund ceases to exist. The minimum gift for a non-endowed fund is a pledge of $2,500 per year for five years. The fund may be renewed or revised in year five.
  • We are grateful for the generosity of alumni and friends that have established funds to support students at Penn State Lehigh Valley. Individuals who invest in Penn State Lehigh Valley through endowments can be certain that their philanthropy will benefit the campus and local community far into the future.
