CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — The Blue and White Society at Penn State Lehigh Valley (PSU-LV) is teaming up with Meals on Wheels of the Lehigh Valley by collecting food items for emergency packages. The packages will be distributed to Meals on Wheels clients during the winter months to supplement their existing food supplies.
Inclement weather and hazardous driving conditions can sometimes delay or cancel Meals on Wheels deliveries; the emergency packages are meant to provide Meals on Wheels clients with several days’ worth of food should their meal delivery schedule be interrupted.
The following shelf-stable items are needed for the emergency packages:
-
Quaker Instant Oatmeal Flavor Variety Pack: 10 packets per box
-
Jiff peanut butter, 16 oz. jar
-
Tuna or chicken pouches (no cans)
-
Fruit cups (in water or light syrup)
-
Unsweetened apple sauce cups
-
Ready to eat, single serve cereal (Cheerios, Honey Nut Cheerios, etc.)
-
Granola bars/fruit bars
-
Dried fruit (raisins, craisins, prunes, apricots, etc.)
-
Chicken soup cups (low sodium)
-
Vegetable soup cups (low sodium)

“Blue and White Society’s mission is to not only support our campus but the community around us,” Mears said. “We are so grateful for the opportunity to work with Meals on Wheels of the Greater Lehigh Valley to support our local community.”
