Giving Tuesday 2018

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving fueled by social media and collaboration. It is celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and kicks off the charitable holiday season. This year Giving Tuesday is on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.

About 40 students, faculty, staff and veterans from the community came to the Veterans Day Celebration, which was hosted by the Penn State Lehigh Valley Veteran Student Organization on Nov. 12.

CRS Collegiate Challenge

The first-place winners of the CRS Collegiate Challenge were from Penn State Scranton. The winning team is pictured here with the Sherwin-Williams team . The team took home a traveling trophy to be housed at their campus until next year’s challenge. These winners also received a $250 scholarship from Sherwin-Williams.

THON 5K

About 70 students and friends ran 3.1 miles on Nov. 4 to raise funds for pediatric cancer research at the Penn State Lehigh Valley Benefiting THON 5K.

Photo of the Week Reading Anew: Voices from the Past

The first "Reading Anew: Voices from the Past" event took place on Nov. 6 at the Lehigh Valley campus. Faculty and students read from text relevant to their discipline and a discussion of ideas followed. The objective of the panel was to encourage students to consider the intellectual history of the academic programs Penn State offers. PSU-LV Corporate Communication Senior Naseeba Saeed read from “Nicromachean Ethics” translated by Terence Irwin, 2nd ed. The other featured readings were from Herman Melville's “Moby-Dick” and Lewis Thomas's “The Lives of a Cell."
