More than 100 students from local high schools in the Lehigh Valley attended the Celebration of Diversity event on Oct. 24 and got to hear from Ce-Ce Gerlach, vice president of the Board of School Directors Allentown School District.
Raymond Ghelardi and his wife Ellen, of Fort Myers, Florida, have provided the gift to create the Ghelardi Family Open Doors Scholarship for Penn State students enrolled at the Lehigh Valley campus.
The Penn State University Laureate, John Champagne, presented “Art and Politics: The Case of Corrado Cagli” on Oct. 25, at the Lehigh Valley campus. The problematic and contradictory relationship between the art of Italian painter, sculptor and muralist Corrado Cagli and the fascist government that supported him was explored in the presentation.
PSU-LV was on hand to celebrate the opening of the new Hotel B Ice Cream Parlor featuring Penn State Berkey Creamery ice cream on Oct. 20 on Main Street in Bethlehem. Bethlehem Mayor Bob Donchez, owner Bruce Haines, Chancellor Tina Q. Richardson, and the Nittany Lion cut the ribbon at the celebratory event.
