New faculty and staff members and faculty promotion at Penn State Lehigh Valley

Penn State Lehigh Valley has announced the following new faculty and staff hires:

New faculty and staff

Marie Cabrera has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as the faculty affairs coordinator. Cabrera earned a bachelor of science in business administration from New Jersey City University as well as a specialized diploma in accounting from Northampton Community College. She previously served as the executive administrative assistant for Catholic Charities. Cabrera resides in Bethlehem Township, Pennsylvania.

Mark M. Capofari has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as lecturer in project and supply chain management. Capofari earned a master of science in logistics from SUNY Maritime College, as well as a bachelor of science in transportation from St. John’s University. He previously served as a global trade compliance leader at SUEZ. Capofari resides in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

Jordan Cox has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as an administrative assistant. Cox earned a bachelor of science in Christian Studies from Cairn University. Cox previously served as the assistant pastor at Quakertown United Methodist Church, a security aide at Quakertown Community High School and an associate manager at Under Armour. Cox resides in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania.

Ray-Maurice Edwards has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as head coach of the men’s basketball team. Edwards earned a bachelor of science in athletic training from Temple University. He previously served as the associate head coach at Northampton Community College. Edwards resides in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

David Gothard has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as a part-time instructor in art. Gothard earned a bachelor of fine arts in drawing from Pratt Institute. He is a regular contributor of editorial art to publications including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Time Magazine among others. Gothard and his wife have created children’s books together for Harper Collins. He currently serves as an adjunct associate professor at Pratt Institute and an adjunct professor at The New York Academy of Art. He resides in Sciota, Pennsylvania.

Emilie Keeler has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as the administrative assistant for academic advising and career strategy. Keeler earned a master of arts in human resource management from DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management, as well as a bachelor of arts in global business from Cedarville University. She previously served as a talent consultant for ORS Partners. Keeler resides in Harleysville, Pennsylvania.

Camille Kacerik has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as the part-time videographer and editor in the Multimedia Innovation Center. Kacerik earned her bachelor of arts in film and media arts from Temple University as well as an associate in applied science degree focusing on radio and television from Northampton Community College. She resides in Hellertown, Pennsylvania.

Aziza Khalil has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as the coordinator of student success. Khalil earned a bachelor of science in psychology and sociology from the University of Pittsburgh. She previously served as the lead case manager for the Maternity Care Coalition. Khalil resides in New Tripoli, Pennsylvania.

Shannon Renninger will serve as the athletic trainer at Penn State Lehigh Valley contracted through St. Luke’s University Health Network. Renninger earned a master of science in athletic training from East Stroudsburg University, as well as a bachelor of science in athletic training and EMT certification from the University of Pittsburgh. She previously served as an athletic trainer in the Allentown School District contracted through St. Luke’s. Renninger resides in East Greenville, Pennsylvania.

Nicole Ryerson has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as an assistant professor of psychology. Ryerson earned a doctorate of philosophy in experimental psychology as well as a master of arts in experimental psychology both from the University of Alabama. She minored in statistical analyses. She also earned a bachelor of science in psychology in Penn State Schuylkill. Ryerson previously served as an assistant professor of psychology at Wilkes University. She resides in Bangor, Pennsylvania.

Jeremy Schmoyer has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as part-time lecturer in business. Schmoyer earned a master of business administration with a concentration in human resource management from Moravian College, as well as a bachelor of science in business administration from Kutztown University. He currently serves as the Eastern Division Collection Manager at the Sherwin-Williams Company. Schmoyer resides in Breinigsville, Pennsylvania.

Lisa Schreffler has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as a lecturer in biology. Schreffler earned a master of science in biology from East Stroudsburg University, as well as a bachelor of science in biology from the University of Dayton. Schreffler will defend her doctoral dissertation in May. She had previously taught biology courses at Northampton Community College and George Mason University, Virginia.

Allison Souchuck has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as a police officer. Souchuck earned a bachelor of arts in criminal justice as well as a bachelor of science in exercise science from Bloomsburg University. She previously served as a police officer at Bloomsburg University. Souchuck resides in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Faculty promotion

Alison L. Bonner received promotion to assistant teaching professor of mathematics. She has been at Penn State Lehigh Valley since 2007. Bonner earned a master of science in chemical engineering from the University of Arizona, as well as a bachelor of science in chemical engineering from Rutgers University. She resides in Salisbury Township, Pennsylvania.
