CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Some of the region’s most talented artists will have a prime showcase for their work when Penn State Lehigh Valley’s Ronald K. De Long Gallery plays host to the Lehigh Art Alliance’s 2022 Winter Juried Exhibition beginning later this month.
The exhibition will be on display from Jan. 29 to March 15 in the gallery, which will hold an artists’ reception on Saturday, Jan. 29, from noon to 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and will include an awards ceremony from 2 to 3 p.m.
The show will feature original works in various media. On Saturday, Jan. 22, Gallery Director Ann Lalik and gallery namesake and former art faculty member Ron De Long will judge the entries and determine how many will ultimately be included in the exhibit.
“This is the first year we are hosting this event, which was held at different locations in the past,” Lalik said. “However, we have hosted LAA exhibits before. In 2011, we hosted a members exhibit with six artists. It was less than a year after the gallery opened in 2010, and it was very helpful in connecting us with regional talents.”
For 87 years, the Lehigh Art Alliance (LAA) has been committed to enriching the Lehigh Valley through the support of artists in their creative endeavors and by providing exhibition and educational opportunities to its members and the surrounding community.
“I have worked with LAA in various forms over the years and have tremendous respect for their membership of excellent artists, both professional and amateur,” Lalik said. “They are active in the community and tireless in connecting the members with exhibition and educational opportunities.”
