Talk with faculty members about your interest in research!
Contacting one of your current or past instructors teaching in your area of interest can be an excellent way to get started. Those instructors may be seeking assistants to help with existing research projects, may be able to mentor you in a new project, or may offer ideas about other projects and programs of interest.
Check out our events and programs!
Attending one of our upcoming workshops and events can help support you on your research path. For access to recordings of selected past workshops–such as Getting Started with Research, How to Join the Scholarly Conversation, How to Develop Effective Research Questions, Literature Review Foundations, Designing and Creating a Research Poster, and Presenting a Research Poster--contact Jen Jarson, Head Librarian and Chair of the Undergraduate Research Committee at Penn State Lehigh Valley.
Learn about other students' research for inspiration!
Talk with your friends and classmates to learn about their undergraduate research experiences. Ask your instructors or adviser to point you to some examples of undergraduate research in your subject area. Browse a snapshot of the work students presented at the April 2021 Lehigh Valley Undergraduate Research Symposium, the Penn State Lehigh Valley Undergraduate Research Symposium Winner Archive, or the posters of students who won the 2021 University Libraries' Undergraduate Research Award: Excellence in Information Literacy award.
