The Penn State Lehigh Valley women's basketball team dropped two nonconference match-ups in the Roosevelts 21st Greyhound Classic at Moravian College on Dec. 30 and Dec. 31. With the losses, Lehigh Valley drops to 6-5 overall on the season.
In the first day of the tournament, Lehigh Valley faced a tough William Paterson University of New Jersey team. Lehigh Valley trailed 28-17 at the half and was not able to string enough runs together to overcome the Pioneers to drop the First Round game, 59-45. Senior Andrea Watkins led the Lions with 15 points and Ebony Sanders chipped in with 12 points.
In the consolation game against Allegheny College, who lost to Moravian in the first day, 86-67, the Lions dug a first quarter hole 27-11, but battled back to cut the deficit to 10 points at halftime, 33-23. Allegheny came out of the locker room on fire stretching their lead to 22, but again Lehigh Valley responded late in the fourth, but it was not enough dropping the consolation game, 66-54. Watkins led Lehigh Valley with 21 points, Ebony Sanders contributed 13 points and Hannah Bankes chipped in with 10 points.
Andrea Watkins was named to the All-Tournament team for the second straight year.
