Five Lehigh Valley athletes receive All-American and All-Academic recognition

Five Penn State Lehigh Valley basketball players received recognition from the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) for accomplishments both on and off the court.

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- Five Penn State Lehigh Valley basketball players received recognition from the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) for accomplishments both on and off the court.

Penn State Lehigh Valley men's basketball senior, Jordan Young, was named USCAA National Division 2 Student-Athlete of the Year. This honor is awarded to a player who has excelled on the court, in the classroom and in the community. Young is first-ever National USCAA Student-Athlete of the Year in Penn State Lehigh Valley history.

Penn State Lehigh Valley women’s basketball junior, Andrea Watkins, was named USCAA National Division 2 Women's Basketball Player of the Year. This honor is the highest performance award in the country. Watkins is the first ever National USCAA Player of the Year in Penn State Lehigh Valley history.

Watkins was also named to the USCAA First Team All-American team. Other accomplishments include: being named PSUAC Player of the Year for the second straight season and scoring her 1,000th career point as a junior this season.

Other Penn State Lehigh Valley women’s basketball players to receive USCAA National accolades include:

  • USCAA Second Team All-American: Ashley Gordon and Ebony Sanders.
  • USCAA National All-Academic (given to student-athletes of sophomore standing or higher with at least a 3.5 grade point average): Hannah Bankes. Bankes is the second player in campus history to receive this accolade.
