Penn State Lehigh Valley’s EOP Summer Bridge Program is designed to provide a developmental transition from high school to university life for 15 first-generation, first-year students of diverse ethnicities, cultures, and philosophies. The aim is to close some of the gap between the skills they graduated from high school with, and what is required at the university level.
A developmental transition means that we will begin the level of instruction at their current skill level and gradually raise them to university level with assistance in the summer program and during the first year of college with specialized academic and personalized programs.
The Summer Bridge Program is free, required, and mandatory for all incoming EOP students. The Summer Bridge Program is organized into a learning community, joining students with a skilled team of faculty, staff, and student leaders. The goals are both academic and personal development for every student. The program will take place over the course of three days during late July 2022.
