Men's basketball downs Penn State Schuylkill, 77-75, in final minute
The Penn State Lehigh Valley (LV) men's basketball team had a series of great plays down the stretch to give the LV Lions a 77-75 win over PSUAC opponent Penn State Schuylkill Dec. 5 in Schuylkill Haven.
Schuylkill was leading 75-71 with 1:07 remaining in the game. Jeremiah Jenkins missed jump shot led to a Brandon Purrone offensive rebound and pass to James Middleton to cut the deficit 75-73 with 49 seconds remaining. A turnover by Schuylkill lead to an Eric Gainor jumper with 39 seconds left to tie the game at 75. Two consecutive turnovers by Schuylkill lead to the game winning shot by Jeremiah Jenkins with 3 seconds left in the game.
Jenkins lead Lehigh Valley with 18 points and James Middleton contributed 16 points. Eric Johnson and Brandon Purrone added 12 points and 11 points for Lehigh Valley.
Men's basketball trips up against PSU Hazleton, 85-58
The Penn State Lehigh Valley men's basketball team fell to host Penn State Hazleton, 85-58, Dec. 7 in Hazleton. With the loss, the Lehigh Valley falls to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in PSUAC play. Hazleton held a 40-28 halftime lead and then blew open the scoring at the 15-minute mark of the second half when they went on a 20-2 run for the next 6 minutes. First-year student Brandon Purrone led the way for Lehigh Valley with 13 points and senior Jeremiah Jenkins chipped in with 12 points.
Men's basketball stumbles against Penn State Wilkes Barre, 88-63
The Penn State Lehigh Valley men's basketball team trailed at halftime 42-19 and was unable to regain momentum in second, as they dropped a PSUAC match-up to visiting PSU Wilkes Barre, 88-63, Dec. 15 at Cedar Crest College. Lehigh Valley drops to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
Senior Jeremiah Jenkins had a team high 23 points. First-year student Brandon Purrone added 15 points and senior James Middleton added 11 points.
Lehigh Valley will have some time off for the winter break and return to action in the New Year when they take on nonconference opponent Central Penn College on Friday, Jan. 4 at Cedar Crest College for an 8 p.m. tip-off.
Women's basketball storms past Penn State Schuylkill, 81-31
The Penn State Lehigh Valley women's basketball team won its fourth straight game with an 81-31 win over PSUAC opponent Penn State Schuylkill Dec. 5 in Schuylkill Haven. Lehigh Valley used a 33-6 second quarter burst en route to a 52-19 halftime lead and never looked back.
First-year student Kion Andrews had a double double and led Lehigh Valley with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Anaya White added 16 points and junior Ebony Sanders chipped in with 12 points.
Women's basketball wins 6th straight by downing Penn State Hazleton, 87-62
The Penn State Lehigh Valley women's basketball team won their sixth straight game by downing host Penn State Hazleton, 87-62, on Dec. 7 in Hazleton. With the win, Lehigh Valley improves to 7-2 overall and 4-0 in PSUAC play. Lehigh Valley held a 59-26 halftime lead and never looked back. First-year student Ally Quinn led the way for Lehigh Valley shooting 5 for 9 from 3-point range for a team-high 19 points. Sophomore Makayla Brown-Paul also caught on fire shooting 5 for 12 from 3 to add 15 points. First-year student Kion Andrews and sophomore Anaya White both chipped in with 12 and 10 points.
Women's basketball wins 7th straight, blows by Penn State Wilkes Barre, 95-45
Lehigh Valley first-year student Ally Quinn was on fire from beyond the arc making 7 threes for a career-high 31 points as she led the Penn State Lehigh Valley women's basketball team to a 95-45 victory over visiting Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Dec. 15 at Cedar Crest College. Junior Ebony Sanders added a double double with 16 points and monster grab of 21 rebounds. First-year student Kion Andrews added 11 points and 8 assists. This is Lehigh Valley's seventh straight win, they improve to 8-2 overall and 5-0 in PSUAC play.

Kion Andrews named PSUAC Player of the Week
Penn State Lehigh Valley first-year student Kion Andrews had a triple double in a win over Penn State Scranton with 22 points, 12 assists and 12 rebounds. She also had 18 points and 4 steals in a win over Penn State Mont Alto to help PSU Lehigh Valley go 2-0 in conference play. In two games, she averaged 20 points per game, shooting 56 percent from the floor and averaged eight assists and seven steals per game.
