An update on the latest activities of the Penn State Lehigh Valley (PSU-LV) men’s and women's basketball teams.

 

Women's basketball wins eighth straight, downs Central Penn 85-50

The Penn State Lehigh Valley women's basketball team opened up 2019 with an 85-50 win over visiting nonconference opponent Central Penn, 85-50, on Jan. 4 to win their eighth straight game. With the win, Lehigh Valley improves to 9-2 overall. First-year student Jah'nel Oliver had a career high 18 points and first-year student Kion Andrews added 14 points. First-year student Kristin Curry and first-year student Ally Quinn chipped in 12 and 11 points.

Despite second half comeback, men's basketball falls to Central Penn 89-75

The Penn State Lehigh Valley men's basketball team outscored visiting nonconference opponent Central Penn, 37-31, on Jan. 4 in the second half, but it was not good enough as they trailed 58-38 at halftime before bowing down, 89-75. Senior Jeremiah Jenkins led with 17 points and senior teammate James Middleton added 16 points. Senior Eric Gainor chipped in with 15 points.

Women's basketball wins 10th straight by blowing by Penn State Brandywine, 85-43

The Penn State Lehigh Valley women's basketball team sought their revenge Jan. 6 as they took down the PSUAC defending champs, PSU Branydwine, 85-43 in a critical PSUAC match-up. Brandywine beat Lehigh Valley last season in the 2018 PSUAC championship, 70-63. Lehigh Valley had five players in double figures led by first-year student Kion Andrews with 16 points. First-year student Ally Quinn added 12 points off the bench. Junior Ebony Sanders had a double double night with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Sophomore Rebecca Fuehrer added 11 points and first-year student Sarah McGee chipped in with 10 points. 

Men's basketball falls to Penn State Brandywine, 77-70

PSU-LV Senior Jeremiah Jenkins poured in a game-high 30 points, but it was not enough as Lehigh Valley dropped a PSUAC match-up with defending PSUAC champs, PSU Brandywine, 77-70, Jan. 6 Allentown. Senior James Middleton contributed 16 points and first-year student Brandon Purrone chipped in with 11 points.

Women's basketball wins ninth straight with 75-56 win over Penn State York

The Penn State Lehigh Valley women’s basketball team opened up 2019 PSUAC play with a 75-56 win over host Penn State York on Jan. 7 in York.  With the win, Lehigh Valley improves to 10-2 overall and 6-0 in PSUAC play. Five players scored in double figures for Lehigh Valley led by first-year student Kion Andrews with 14 points. First-year student Ally Quinn came off the bench to add 13 points. Junior Ebony Sanders had a double double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. First-year duo Sarah McGee and Jah'nel Oliver chipped in with 11 and 10 points.

Men's basketball falls to Penn State York, 81-62

The Penn State Lehigh Valley men's basketball team trailed 31-29 at halftime but ran out of gas in the second half as host Penn State York won 81-62. With the loss, Lehigh Valley drops to 3-6 overall and 2-4 in PSUAC play. Four players scored in double digits for Lehigh Valley, led by senior Jeremiah Jenkins with 21 points. Senior James Middleton added 11 points. First-year Brandon Purrone and sophomore Eric Johnson added 10 apiece. 

Women's basketball wins eleventh straight, blows by Penn State Schuylkill 101-19

The Penn State Lehigh Valley women's basketball team had everyone in the scoring column as they dominated PSU Schuylkill from start to finish in a 101-19 PSUAC victory on Jan. 15 in Allentown. With the win, Lehigh Valley improves to 12-2 overall and 8-0 in PSUAC play. Junior Ebony Sanders had a monster game in the paint recording another double double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. First-year students Kristin Curry and Ally Quinn came off the bench to score 15 and 14 points. First-year student Kion Andrews chipped in with 10 points.

Men's basketball drops heartbreaker in double overtime to Penn State Schuylkill, 78-75

The energy was high inside Lees Hall on the campus of Cedar Crest College Jan. 15 as the Penn State Lehigh Valley men's basketball team took visitor Penn State Schuylkill into double overtime. Schuylkill prevailed with a 78-75 win. Schuylkill tied it up off a three-point shot to send it into the first overtime, missed free throws and turnovers proved to be costly for Lehigh Valley in the 2nd overtime as Lehigh Valley drops a key PSUAC match-up. With the loss, Lehigh Valley drops to 3-8 overall and 2-6 in PSUAC play. 

Senior Jeremiah Jenkins led with a game-high 33 points. Senior James Middleton chipped in with 14 points and sophomore Eric Johnson added 10 points.
