An update on the latest activities of the Penn State Lehigh Valley athletic teams:
Volleyball drops season opener at Raritan Valley community college, 3-0
The Penn State Lehigh Valley volleyball team opened their 2019 season on the road against Raritan Valley Community College on Aug. 30. RVCC swept Lehigh Valley in three sets winning in set 1 25-13, set 2 25-12 and set 3 25-14. Senior Ebony Sanders led with five kills.
Women's soccer drops season opener to Immaculata University, 13-0
The Penn State Lehigh Valley women's soccer team and under first-year head coach, Scott Cullen, dropped their season opening match-up against powerhouse Immaculata University, 13-0, Aug. 30 in Immaculata. Lehigh Valley goalkeeper, Chelsea Lopez, had nine saves on the evening.
Men's Soccer falls to Rowan College of Gloucester County in season opener, 7-0
The Penn State Lehigh Valley men's soccer team dropped its season home opening match-up against non-conference Rowan College of Gloucester County, 7-0, Aug. 30 in Center Valley. PSU-LV goalkeeper, Trevor Rockwell, recorded 15 saves on the day.
Men's soccer drops local match to NCC, 3-1. Roy Njoroge scores for lv.
The Penn State Lehigh Valley Junior Roy Njoroge scored the team’s first 2019 goal in a 3-1 loss to host Northampton Community College on Sept. 3 in Bethlehem. PSU-LV held NCC to a 1-0 score at halftime. Njoroge scored his lone goal in the second half, but NACC added two more tallies in the second period to seal the non-conference victory.
Volleyball downs Lehigh Carbon Community College, 3-1
The Penn State Lehigh Valley women's volleyball team got their first win of the season over host Lehigh Carbon Community College, 3-1, Sept. 5 in Schnecksville. LCCC came out of the gates on fire winning set 1 25-23 but PSU-LV would rally back to win 3 straight sets (25-16, 25-21, 25-17) to improve to 1-1 on the season. Senior Ebony Sanders led the way with 15 kills and seven serving aces. First-year student Bridget Jones added seven kills and three serving aces. Transfer, Jillian Cope, chipped in with six kills.

Volleyball sweeps Cheyney University, 3-0
The Penn State Lehigh Valley women's volleyball team picked up their second win of the season with a 3-0 sweep over visiting non-conference opponent, Cheyney University, Sept. 7 in Allentown. With the win, Lehigh Valley improves to 2-1 on the season. Lehigh Valley dominated in all three sets winning 25-19, 25-15 and 25-15. Senior Ebony Sanders led the way with a game-high nine kills and adding five serving aces. First-year student Bridget Jones chipped in with seven kills and five serving aces. Sophomore Adrian Leon recorded a game-high 18 assists.
Lehigh Valley will start up PSUAC play this Wednesday, Sept. 11 when they travel to Penn State Scranton for a 7 p.m. match time.
Men's soccer downs Williamson, 1-0
Majed Salama scores for Lehigh Valley
Penn State Lehigh Valley men's soccer senior, Majed Salama, scored late in the second period to give the Lehigh Valley Lions a 1-0 win over non-conference Williamson College on Sept. 6 in Center Valley. With the win, Lehigh Valley improves to 1-2 on the season. This is Salama's first goal on the season. Winning goalkeeper Trevor Rockwell had six saves on the day to earn the shutout win.
Lehigh Valley will host PSUAC opponent, Penn State Wilkes-Barre, at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the Penn State Lehigh Valley Soccer Field.
