Former Penn State, NFL star Matt Millen to headline Lehigh Valley Alumni event

Former Penn State and NFL star Matt Millen will be the featured speaker at the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association's “An Evening with Matt Millen” fundraiser on Wednesday, June 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Centennial Ballroom at Homewood Suites by Hilton, Center Valley.

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Former Penn State and NFL star Matt Millen will be the featured speaker at the next fundraising event hosted by the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association.

“An Evening with Matt Millen” will take place Wednesday, June 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. (doors open at 5:30) in the Centennial Ballroom at Homewood Suites by Hilton, Center Valley. The event is being held as a scholarship fundraiser for Penn State Lehigh Valley students.

At the program, hosted by former Penn State and NFL player Mike Guman, Mullen will discuss highlights from his career, as well as share lessons learned and his perspective on current trending issues in college football.

The evening will also include light fare, cash bar, silent auction and 50/50 raffle. Individual tickets for the event are $30 for Alumni Association members and $40 for non-members. Table sponsorships with seating for 10 are $500; they include reserved, preferred seating; promotion throughout the evening; and a private meet-and-greet with Millen and Guman prior to the event.

A four-year letterman at defensive tackle for Penn State from 1976–79, Millen played linebacker for the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders, San Francisco 49ers and Washington Redskins during his 12-year NFL career. A member of four Super Bowl-winning teams, the Whitehall native earned first-team All-Pro honors in 1984 and 1985, was voted to the 1988 Pro Bowl, and retired following the 1991 season after winning his fourth title with the Redskins in Super Bowl XXVI.

Following his playing career, Millen served as president and chief executive officer of the Detroit Lions from 2001 to 2008. He also has spent many years as a well-respected football commentator for several national television and radio networks, including Big Ten Network.
