About the Exhibit...
Plastic Wrappings is an exhibition of paintings by Southern Lehigh and Palisades High School AP art students. This IDEA (Inter-District Experience in Art) show is composed of large photo realistic studies of natural and man-made objects that in some manner are wrapped in plastic. The high school students explore the inclusion of plastic bags and plastic wrappings creating barriers between their object and the viewer. This inclusion of plastics in art also explores the idea of the chemical components of plastics creating barriers that maybe harming the environment as well as imposing on the quality of life of all humanity. Students also examine how various artists, such as Janet Fish, Pedro Campos, and others, address the thesis of plastic wrappings.
