Scott Cullen enters his first season as the head women's soccer coach at Penn State Lehigh Valley. Cullen comes to the Lehigh Valley campus with an immense amount of experience within the soccer community.
Scott Cullen was announced as the new head women's soccer coach at Penn State Lehigh Valley.
A native of Derry, New Hampshire, Cullen found his way to Division 2 Chowan University in Murfreesboro, North Carolina. For four years, he was goalkeeper for the men’s soccer team at Chowan. Cullen ranked third in the nation in 2010 for saves and save percentage. He earned his bachelor of science in exercise science.
After his playing career, Cullen coached at his alma mater as an assistant to both the men’s and women’s programs. In 2014, he moved to Pennsylvania where he started the Northampton Community College women's soccer program.
After four seasons, with an overall record of 18-29-2, a 2017 conference championship, and making the region tournament, Cullen was named EPAC coach of the year in 2017. In 2018, he focused on youth soccer in the Lehigh Valley. After winning several tournaments with boys’ teams ranging from under 10 to under 13 year olds with FC Steel, Cullen formed New Wave Training to provide personal training for goalkeepers and field players.
"I am excited to join the Penn State family, to get started forming a motivated group of young women to compete every day on and off the pitch and creating a great atmosphere for our community," Cullen said.
Cullen currently resides in Northampton, Pennsylvania with his wife, Kayla, and dog, Kona.
